MLS Season Pass in 2026: Apple TV Subscription, Price and Free Trials Explained

Understand the 2026 move from MLS Season Pass to Apple TV, current US and Canadian prices, old-account migration, club benefits, free trials and billing checks.

MLS Season Pass in 2026: Apple TV Subscription, Price and Free Trials Explained

MLS Season Pass is no longer sold as a standalone subscription in 2026. MLS matches are included with Apple TV. This guide explains the current price, what happened to older subscriptions, how club benefits work, and which account checks can prevent paying twice. Subscription information was checked on September 6, 2026.

What replaced MLS Season Pass in 2026?

MLS Season Pass stopped being a separate subscription after the 2025 season. For 2026, the subscription that unlocks MLS is Apple TV. An existing Apple TV subscriber can open the MLS area and watch without buying another soccer package. Someone who has only downloaded the app still needs an eligible subscription or offer.

The subscription, app and television box are different

The Apple TV app is the place you browse and play content. Apple TV is also the name of the subscription service. Apple TV 4K is a physical streaming device. You can use the first two without owning the third. This distinction matters when an old search result tells you to buy a pass or a new viewer assumes that watching requires a hardware purchase.

For example, a supporter with a compatible smart television and an active Apple TV subscription should first sign in on that television. Buying a streaming box does not solve an account mismatch, and buying another subscription does not improve a slow internet connection. Establish what you already own before choosing what to pay for.

MLS access is a specific entitlement

The 2026 package includes the league's regular season and playoffs, alongside the additional competitions Apple and MLS identify in their coverage announcement. It does not turn the Apple TV app into an unlimited pass to every sport, every soccer competition or every item in its storefront. Rental films and separately branded subscription channels can still have their own charges.

That is why the useful first question is whether your account has Apple TV access, followed by whether you have opened the correct MLS match. A search for a club can also return documentaries, old highlights and unrelated competitions. Check the competition and date on the match card before treating a purchase prompt as evidence that your MLS subscription is missing.

How much does MLS on Apple TV cost now?

As checked on September 6, 2026, Apple's US subscription page lists Apple TV at $14.99 per month after an eligible seven-day free trial. The MLS viewing page also lists CAD $14.99 per month for Canada. These are different currencies, even though the printed number is identical. Check the price and any applicable tax shown for your own account before confirming a purchase.

Some legitimate articles published at the start of 2026 still quote a US price of $12.99. Apple's February launch announcement used that figure. It is an archival price, whereas the current subscription page is the relevant starting point for a new purchase today. Likewise, the old standalone MLS Season Pass seasonal prices describe a retired product.

Compare the billing period you actually need

A monthly streaming subscription and a soccer season cover different periods. Your renewal date follows the subscription arrangement shown in your account; it is not simply the day after your club's last match. Before subscribing for a playoff run or a short visit, look at both the fixture dates and the billing dates.

Illustrative US viewing periodMonthly-price arithmetic
One paid month$14.99
Two paid months$29.98
Three paid months$44.97

These examples multiply the current monthly figure. They exclude taxes, free days, discounts and any account-specific offer; they are not official multi-month packages. A trial that begins near a matchday may change when your first charge occurs, so use the confirmation screen for the actual amount and renewal date.

If you already receive Apple TV through a bundle, family subscription or club benefit, the first task is to check that access. Comparing the headline monthly price is useful only after establishing whether a new payment is needed. Keep a note of who bills you and the service name on the receipt, especially if another person manages the household's subscriptions.

What happened to your old MLS Season Pass account?

Apple's transition guidance separates customers by their existing subscriptions. If you had both MLS Season Pass and Apple TV or Apple One, the separate pass was set to stop renewing after the 2025 season. Your Apple TV access becomes the route to MLS.

Converted and expired subscriptions need different checks

For eligible renewing customers who only had MLS Season Pass, Apple described an automatic conversion to Apple TV in early 2026, with a price equal to or below the previous subscription and an explanatory email. Noneligible subscriptions instead expired. Access supplied by another provider requires guidance from that provider. Conversion was therefore not a promise that every former pass holder would retain access.

If you are returning to watch after several months away, begin with your subscription list and receipts. An old confirmation email proves that you once bought a service; it does not establish that the service is active today. Compare the Apple Account on that receipt with the account currently signed in on your viewing device.

  1. Find the latest receipt or renewal notification, rather than the original purchase email.
  2. Check the service name, current status and next billing or expiry date.
  3. Match the account used for that purchase with the account on the television or browser.
  4. If a provider supplied access, open that provider's account area before starting another subscription.

Investigate an unfamiliar charge before replacing the account

Suppose your old email mentions MLS Season Pass but your new receipt says Apple TV. That difference can be consistent with the transition; the receipt alone does not show a duplicate charge. Conversely, seeing two service names in old emails is not proof that two current renewals remain active. Compare dates and statuses before deciding what needs cancellation.

When contacting billing support, describe the specific charge and the account that received the receipt. Avoid sending passwords or full payment-card details. Ask which subscription is active and which organization controls renewal. A clear billing question is easier to resolve than a general request to restore an old pass, particularly when the package name itself has changed.

Which free trials and club benefits can you use?

Check trial eligibility on your own account

The standard US Apple TV offer advertises seven free days for eligible new subscribers. Apple also advertises a three-month offer with eligible new Apple devices, subject to redemption timing and other terms. A promotion shown on a public page does not mean every returning customer qualifies. Review the offer displayed after signing in, including its renewal price.

Start by deciding whether you want a short trial or ongoing access. If your aim is to watch one match, confirm the fixture first and note the trial end date. Starting a trial several days before a rescheduled game can leave you outside the free period. A calendar reminder is useful, but the account's displayed terms determine when billing starts.

Full-season ticket accounts have a separate benefit

MLS provides one Apple TV subscription per eligible paid full-season ticket account, regardless of the number of seats. The club sends the redemption instructions and can resend a missing link. The official 2026 offer lists US and Canadian eligibility and a November 30, 2026 expiry date, with additional conditions.

Redeeming a club benefit normally pauses an existing direct Apple TV subscription, but the MLS FAQ identifies exceptions including Apple One, the Apple TV/Peacock bundle and third-party access. Those customers can see two active subscriptions without being charged for the club-provided one. Check how your existing service is supplied before expecting its bill to stop.

Choose the Apple Account for redemption carefully. The club's FAQ says future benefit renewals follow the account that redeemed the offer. A supporter who forwards the link to a friend should therefore understand which account receives the access. The ticket-account email and Apple Account email need not match.

For a household comparing options, write down three things: the account that already has access, the account that would redeem the club benefit, and the organization charging for the current bundle. This small check can prevent an unnecessary cancellation of a bundle containing other services. If the link fails before redemption, contact the club representative; if redeemed access will not play, use Apple's support route.

How to sign in, share access and manage renewal

Use the Apple Account that holds the subscription or has access through your family group. On a shared television, it is easy to open an app that is still signed into another household member's account. Before subscribing again, compare the signed-in identity with the account shown on your receipt or benefit confirmation.

Set up household sharing before matchday

Apple TV supports Family Sharing with up to five other family members. Each person can use their own account within that arrangement. This is more useful than passing around a password because it keeps account ownership clear when someone changes devices or needs to manage a purchase.

The number of people eligible for sharing should not be treated as a promise about every device combination or simultaneous sports stream. If several screens fail at once, check the current service limits and the household's active streams. Test your intended setup before a match that everyone wants to see from different rooms.

A practical household check is to open MLS on the main television and then on the device used by the other viewer. Confirm that both are using the intended accounts and can reach the correct match area. If one sees a subscription prompt, investigate the sharing setup before the second person pays.

Cancel through the organization that bills you

On iPhone, Apple's current guidance points to the Apple TV app's profile area and Manage Subscriptions. Apple also provides a web cancellation route through account settings. If another provider bills the subscription, follow that provider's cancellation process. Closing the app or removing it from your television is not a substitute for managing renewal.

For an Apple trial you do not want to renew, Apple's guidance says to cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Read the confirmation carefully because access during or after cancellation depends on the offer and applicable terms. Keep the confirmation and check the status after completing the process.

Plan around the next match you actually want to watch. Our MLS TV schedule helps with fixture planning; your subscription page determines the billing schedule. Recording both dates avoids assuming that a quiet week, a club's elimination or the end of the regular season automatically stops renewal.

What viewing access is included after subscribing?

Apple and MLS identify every regular-season match, the MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, the MLS All-Star Game and Campeones Cup within their 2026 coverage. The MLS service has no local blackouts in supported markets. That makes a subscription useful for following a club away from home as well as watching its home fixtures.

Full matches and studio coverage serve different needs

Choose the individual match card when you want one complete game. A studio or whip-around show is designed to move between incidents, analysis and other fixtures. For example, Apple announced free MLS 360 access for Xfinity customers in 2026. That particular benefit should not be read as free access to every full match without the appropriate subscription.

Provider integration also affects where you can find the action. Apple's 2026 announcement describes MLS access within the DIRECTV experience for customers subscribing to Apple TV through DIRECTV, alongside Xfinity integration. Follow the instructions for the service you actually use instead of assuming that an old cable channel number or a separate app login applies everywhere.

Check your intended screen and region

Apple lists compatible smart televisions, streaming devices, game consoles, Apple devices, eligible Android devices and web viewing. Owning a television with an app store does not by itself confirm that its particular model supports the current Apple TV app. Check compatibility before a hardware purchase, and update an existing app before diagnosing a missing feature.

When traveling, verify service availability for the country and account you will use. The no-blackout description does not remove every regional availability rule. Also separate internet access from viewing entitlement: a valid account cannot make an unreliable hotel connection stable.

For the next fixture, use MLS games today to identify the game, then open its matching card in the viewing service. This keeps the subscription guide useful beyond one matchday while giving you a current route to the football you intend to watch.

Troubleshooting a subscription that will not play MLS

A subscription prompt usually needs an account check first

If a match asks you to subscribe despite a recent payment, compare the signed-in Apple Account with the receipt. Then check whether access comes from your own subscription, Family Sharing, a club offer or another provider. Those are different routes to the same viewing entitlement, and the missing step can be different in each case.

For example, a redeemed club benefit attached to one account will not automatically establish that a television signed into another account is correctly configured. Similarly, a provider receipt may require following that provider's activation instructions. Start with the entitlement you already have; a second purchase can complicate the problem without identifying its cause.

Buffering needs a different investigation

Apple recommends checking for service interruptions, trying a different device, and reviewing the internet connection when video will not play reliably. If the same account works on one screen but fails on another, that comparison helps narrow the issue. If every screen fails on the same network, investigate the connection before changing subscriptions.

Restart the affected device and check for app or system updates. When practical, compare a stable home connection with the connection that is failing. Avoid changing several settings at once: one change followed by another playback attempt gives you a more useful result than a long sequence of unrelated adjustments.

If support is needed, provide the match title, device model, app version, approximate failure time and the exact error text. Say whether other content plays and whether another device works. Send a club code problem to the club, a provider billing issue to the provider, and an Apple playback issue through Apple's official support channel. Those details help the recipient distinguish a missing entitlement from a technical interruption.
